After failing to convert the last shot in Kentucky, LSU comes home with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. The Tigers went on the road and played their best game of the season. Now they head home for a revenge match against Texas A&M. In the first meeting LSU allowed 7 Aggies to score 8 or more points. The Aggies made 10 of 23 three point attempts and outrebounded the Tigers by 7. That can't happen at home.

Texas A&M has the #1 perimeter defense in the SEC allowing only 27.4% on three pointers. They are 2nd in conference in defensive efficiency with .989 pts allowed per possession. Unfortunately for them, their offense is worst in the SEC with only .943 points per possession in SEC play. LSU has scored 1.073 points per possession (5th) but have allowed 107.3 points per possession (9th).

LSU also currently boasts the fastest tempo in the SEC. The Tigers are averaging 71 possessions per game in SEC play, while A&M plays a slow 63.1 possessions per game. Look for LSU to try and push the tempo at home against a slow paced team.

LSU will likely stay with the same starting lineup that they have used recently going with Hickey, Coleman, Martin, Mickey, and O'Bryant. Texas A&M will counter with a long lineup of their own. No starter is shorter than 6'4" for the Aggies. That length really affected Andre Stringer in their first meeting. He was 0/4 from the three point line and scored only 2 total points.

Keys to the Game:

Offensive Rebounding In the first meeting, LSU only pulled down 9 offensive rebounds. LSU averages getting 36.8% of their misses but only managed to get 25% against the Aggies. Offensive boards are instant offense. Look for Martin to get involved on the offensive glass.

No Easy Points A&M has one of the worst offenses in the SEC. LSU cannot allow them to get easy baskets. In their first meeting, LSU gave up way too many wide open shots and the Aggies hit them. They have only scored over 70 points in regulation 3 times this season (one against LSU) and LSU cannot allow that to happen.

Go for the Jugular You can't let Texas A&M hang around. If LSU gets a big lead, they cannot let Texas A&M hang around like they have all season to inferior competition. LSU has to get the killer instinct to finish off opponents. It has to start right here.

Prediction:
LSU 74, Texas A&M 59

I'm excited about this game. It's time to show the Aggies that their win was a fluke and they belong in the bottom of the SEC. Here's to an aggie beatdown!

Texas A&M has been solid at home. We will take them behind the woodshed in the PMAC though. Was suprised to see A&M beat Tennessee twice this season. That's a really good team they beat TWICE so we can't sleep on the Aggies. Still think we take it to them.

Anybody know why the espn3 stream of this game will NOT be subject to any blackout?

Just curious.

I don't understand when an SEC game streamed by espn3 is subject to a blackout (most all the time, seems to me) and when it is not.

Thanks for any info on this.

I believe because SECTV sells rights to ESPN where as when it's a CST game or something like that, they ask that it is not available in areas where they have cable influence. Thus, if you get rid of Cox and want to watch a game that is on CST you will be blacked out.

that is what i am anxious to see. we come out locked in, we should win comfortably IMO. if that happens i will be very excited for the weekend and believe we will have a chance. we look like we did the last 30 minutes or so vs state then i won't be as encouraged.

Don't know if any of yall saw this article today, but it's Sports Illustrated saying that if LSU beats Florida, it will be tough for the selection committee to say no to the Tigers.

LINK

quote:

Saturday: LSU at Florida -- Similar to Arkansas, LSU can get a huge boost by knocking off the No. 1 team in the nation. A win in Gainesville would push the Tigers to 4-3 against top-50 RPI teams, with wins over both Florida and Kentucky. That would make LSU hard for the committee to ignore three Sundays from now.

if we somehow pull it off, we would have to win the last two. at vandy won't be easy especially with this team's attention span away from home but i am hoping for the best. i just want something to look forward to on selection sunday.

If we beat UF then pants wiil be off. Unfortunately this team will somehow find a way to put the pants right back on

I'd love to beat UF, but that's going to be incredibly challenging. I think the biggest thing for this team now would be to finish out the year with at most one loss and hopefully land 3rd place in the final standings. Everything would have to fall our way for us to land 3rd, but landing 6th or 7th would be pretty nice too. 4th and 5th would put us on the same side as Florida in the SEC tourney which would suck.

If Florida is on the opposite side of the bracket from us I really believe that we actually have a decent shot of winning it. The best team we'd have to play before the championship would be UK and I really think we would beat them on a neutral floor.

I just have a feeling this team is going to give a massive frick in the Sec tourney. I think we will make some noise

Relax. It won't happen. Florida going undefeated in SEC regular season and win the SEC tourney. Plus the Tigers still don't know how to win on the road.

UK loss was tough, but I'm still gonna support this team no matter what. These guys have a lot left to play for. Hopefully they can get some W's in the home stretch.

We are at home. We will beat the shite out of A&M.

LSU 78
A&M 60
