XBOX One & Directv issue

My directv receiver doesn't seem to be working as well as it should with the XBOX One interface.
I can say, "xbox, watch TV" and it will switch and work fine, but I can't say "xbox, watch nbc/ESPN/etc".
The channel list comes up, but nothing happens when you try to access one of the listed channels?
I looked up my receiver model no. (HR24-100) and also googled issues with XBOX One and above model and came up dry.
Anyone know what I might do? Or if calling Microsoft would be anywhere near helpful? (I bet no, but who knows)

I have my DVR hooked up and have the same issues. It does pretty good other than it has trouble with ESPN or ESPN2 and NBC and NBCSports.

My brother has a newer Directv Receiver (Genie) and his works flawlessly... I think there must be a way to get this resolved...

Have a Genie as well and I use the remote boxes that work off it with my Xbone and have no problems switching channels.

In case anyone was really curious about the fix... My Directv box was set to RF mode... A quick toggle to IR fixed it and everything works perfectly.
(Apparently the genie has built in IR *AND* RF sensors)
