OT Legal Council: Running a red light ticket

Okay, I'm 5th back at a light wanting to makes left turn. The light turns green and everyone proceeds to make their turn. As I approach I notice a car facing us throwing their hands up like wtf?!?! I realize they want to come straight and that no one is yielding. I stop in the middle of the intersection and the guy proceeds with a thank you wave. However, as the guy comes forward and passes me the light goes yellow then red. My choice are to proceed or back out of the intersection and into the car behind me. I go, get pulled over and ticketed.
Do I have an argument? I was in the intersection with a green light for probably 3 seconds before it went yellow.

Generally if you are in middle of intersection when light is yellow you are good to go.

Did you get a ticket or do you think you are going to get a ticket? Generally in EBR, both sets of tires need to cross the stop bar before it is considered a violation. They take video with the violation if you can clearly show you were already in the intersection when it went red you should be fine.

maybe don't pull into the middle of the intersection when you don't have the right of way and this won't happen

I got a physical ticket.

It doesn't make a difference at smaller intersections, but you stay behind the line at big intersections when the light is green?

Always show up to court if you have the time. Either the cop won't show up + you're good (in most jurisdictions), or the cop will reduce the ticket/what you have to do if you plead.

I cross the line when I'm about to turn. I hate jackasses who just sit in the middle of the intersection then block traffic the other way when the light goes red

While I agree with that, I was only in the intersection because I was following the flow of traffic. Once I realized I would be breaking the law if I continued to turn. I yielded...

You can either try to get the cops dash board cam or present you argument to the judge. If it's you word vs the cops word I would just plead first offense if you can. It is a moving violation.

I thought you were allowed to claim the intersection in a situation like that
