True Detective fans: Anyone read The King in Yellow yet?

Read a bunch of articles talking about this being the key

I imagine by 1890 standards it was mind blowing.

Its actually a collection of shorts stories.
They sort of happen in early 1900's Paris.
Lots of artists.
most of them have interconnected characters.
Same share the common plot devise of this play called The King in Yellow That is supposed to drive you crazy. Not all the stories involves this though.
i could see it being a lose metaphor that as soon as you get involved with this ring of murderers or whatever you life goes mad. But i it isn't some huge thing

Its a pretty decent book, but i don't think it shed too much light on True Detective
