The wife and I are planning a couple of weeks in Thailand in late April and early May. We are going to spend a week with some friends north of Bangkok but then want to spend seven days or so at a beach resort. There are so many beach towns and resorts it's hard to start narrowing down our list, especially since the names of the towns run together after a while. We are mostly looking for a laid back resort. Has anyone been that wouldn't mind giving some advice or sharing their experience? Thanks in advance!

I've been to Thailand, but not to any beach resorts, sorry. If I can get in touch with Chan, I can ask her.

Parents were supposed to get there today but they mentioned there may be unrest and the ship may avoid Bangkok

I used to go back when it was Siam, but now it's gone all corporate and mainstream

Whatever you do don't spike a bunch of marshmallows with muscle relaxers and adderall and eat them at a beach bonfire.

Buddy travels for work there and he told us that if you ever go make sure you keep nothing on you when going to a crowded market. The pick pocket thief's are damn good.

Try to visit Chaing Mai & Phuket. A little research on them and you'll want to go.

There is a lot of cool stuff there but Bangkok is pretty jammed up traffic wise. Staying along the river & taking the water taxis works out pretty well.

AND just because they say they can do a Thai massage at the hotel, it might turn out more painful than you bargained for

Thanks, Phuket looks pretty sweet, trying to find a place that won't be as crowded. I'll look into Chaing Mai.

Bangkok is amazing, have tons of pics from last summer if you wan to see them.

Stayed here for one night, it was amazing. Super chill, don't expect too much going on. Not sure you can do 7 days though.

This place might be a better place for a week. Enjoy. (did not stay but wanted to)
