NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
725 PM CST THU FEB 20 2014

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN LOUISIANA
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
COASTAL WATERS

* EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING FROM 725 PM
UNTIL 300 AM CST.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
SEVERAL TORNADOES POSSIBLE
SEVERAL DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
A FEW LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 125 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF
BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA TO 30 MILES SOUTH OF INTRACOASTAL CITY
LOUISIANA. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE
ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU7).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

FRINGE OF SECONDARY UPR IMPULSE /NOW OVER OK/ ROTATING THROUGH BASE
OF LARGER-SCALE MIDWESTERN TROUGH. QUALITY OF LOW-LVL MOISTURE
INFLOW AND MODEST LOW-LVL CONFLUENCE/FORCING FOR ASCENT THAT WILL
DIMINISH LIKELIHOOD FOR STRONGLY-LINEAR CONVECTION SUGGEST A
CONDITIONAL RISK FOR A TORNADO OR TWO...IN ADDITION TO DMGG WIND AND
PERHAPS SVR HAIL.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 24035.

I live tin shreveport and that thing is wrong! It's cloudy and dark but no crazy arse weather. no rain yet

I was near the Mall of La and walking in a parking lot when the wind kicked in. Almost knocked me over and I'm not a little guy. On the way back to the office, damn near pushed my truck into the other lane

not sure, but I feel like tornado outbreaks have been getting worse and more frequent these days...
