In regards to the Hill/Mathieu thread, i was wondering, why does it seem that more players are leaving college early for the pro's? I know some of it is academics, but is money the deciding factor for the rest?

Rarely do you see a good player (especially in LSU's case) stay for 4 years or 5 (redshirt) at a school.

I've heard rumblings and articles about how some of the new standards by the nfl are leading to this, can't find that article. What are your thoughts/opinions?

Combination of guys being more concerned about getting to a paycheck before being seriously injured playing college ball and the most recent NFL collective bargaining agreement which, through new draft slot pay scales, gives less incentive to try and stay for a year and improve draft stock.

the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and the cap that it puts on their first (rookie) contract, so the incentive is now to get to that 2nd contract quicker

Is this real life? Do you actually have to ask if the potential to make millions of dollars is causing players to leave college early for the NFL? Christ.

Hill, Mathieu, Landry and Beckham had nothing more to prove. They were great tigers and will do great in the league. Some go because they've done all they can and their draft stock probably wouldn't get any better, and the risk of injury also. Then you have the ones that need to support their families. Don't get mad at them for leaving, support them. They did their time as a Tiger.

If you could have started your dream career with only 3 years of college, would you have not left early?

This is the real reason.

But also the same reason a dog licks his balls.
