Pence had a monster year last year and no one really mentioned it.

I think Pence was the top player in fantasy for the last month of the season (the fantasy playoffs).

Which begs the question:

Does Cutch's IRL value inflate his fantasy value? Top 5 PLAYER by most accounts.

Could it be the Justin Upton effect? Tease people with decent enough numbers early in a career making people draft top 10 in hopes of that 100/30/100/30 season that just may never come

He finished #5 on the player rater last year. In fantasy, performance is only relative to your peers for that one given year. But I don't believe he's going to improve on those #s much. I wouldn't take him top 5 in redraft, but I would in a keeper league.

Happens every year... perception is the what drives 90% of the general public's fantasy decisions. That has more to do with how people view Gomez, Pence, & Rios than it is an indictment of McCutchen IMO.

Same reason I own the broke bitch Longoria in SBL even though that dude hasn't come close to living up to his fantasy "value"

That's what I'm saying Lou! There's a reason you're 2 time SBL runner up

He hit 32 bombs last year. He finished 28th on the player rater. Not too much to complain about there.

Player rater guys in this thread:
Cutch 5th
Pence 10th
Rios 16th
Gomez 6th
Longo 28th

That's why it's a ton easier to draft in a redraft league than for a keeper. Age becomes almost a non-factor and simply production takes over.

I've always thought Cutch was overvalued. People argue that his steal add a lot, but I just don't see it.

But if Pence was so good, why is Honk offering me a 15th round draft pick for him?????

but those guys are drafted in the first round because you KNOW that is what they will give you.

Pence's power # are pretty consistent, but unless hes stealing 22 bags then his value isnt that high.

Even still, throughout his career he is averaging 80+ runs, 23 HR, 87 RBI, and 12 SB's.

Just making my case for my boy

Yeah, I think you draft McCutch at 5 for his ability and stability.

Well yeah

That's where the perception as to whether Player X will repeat his previous year comes into play. Pence & Gomez are a no for me and seemingly everyone else. Rios is always a guess. His OPSs & motivation fluctuate too much for me. I don't inherently dislike him as a fantasy player, but others always like him more than I do.
