Endless Love Plot Review -Spoilers-

-SPOILERS!-
This is not a review of the quality of the movie. It is instead a critique of the story and no I don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
MOVIE TITLE: Endless Love (2014)
Directed by: Shana Feste
Authors page: LINK
Based on the Novel written by: Scott Spencer
*Note- Don't care to read the book or see the older movie*
Plot issues:
Fist I'd like to say that the lead actors do a decent job. The actual characters themselves are annoying, shallow, and quite frankly weak.
The whole plot is centered around the parents, primarily father who is extremely controlling due to issues unrelated to the main character daughter.
The main love interest is a walking Ken Doll (tm) and is totally in love for no other reason than the plot. He is weak and goaded into several conflicts or issues that he simply didn't have to be in, such as punching the dad. Further he is entirely irrational, as he has some impossible pure and noble form of love that is only possible in wish fulfillment. He wasn't supposed to be a 'real person' in a way and I'm actually okay with that.
I felt like the main character did a terrible job as her conflict resolution was just a hackneyed Hamlet. She never stood up to her father for years and made her impending independence harder by not facing her problems head on.
The worst part of the movie in my opinion is the way that the father overcame his issues on his on after a totally avoidable series of events resulting in a fire.
Irrationally and without explanation, the father suddenly realizes the error of his ways and robs his daughter the chance to grow and confront her dad. It was stupid, and it robbed the audience a valuable lesson in standing up to people.
Final note- The movie totally ripped off Ferris Bueller at one point. That, with the hamlet-esque main characters it just smacks of derivative and mindless work.
I would not recommend.

If I want hot I'll go to Google with lube.
This movie could have been great if it hadn't gotten hung up on stupid plot development ideas.
Why couldn't the daughter grow as a person and confront the dad? Why?

it's a romance movie, it's targeted audience is neither mature nor logical and is very stupid.

I think it is possible to have an adult and interesting romance movie.

The whole love story didn't really make sense.
The guy had never even talked to the girl he was "in love" with and the girl basically hadn't talked to anyone besides her family in four years.
All of a sudden they say hey to each other when he opens the door for her mom because he is a vallet and she is instantly captivated by him and wants to throw a senior party and all this shite.
Next, she has literally said made 10 sentences to him the whole movie and she is already so comfortable with him that they are making dance moves and making out and stupid shite.
She also acted really weird.. Kind of like an excited 12 year old.

I was forgiving since it was a book and it couldn't all make it film.

I never read a book or anything. Just went to see it on valentines day with my SO. It was a nice love story and good for a romantic type date I suppose. It didn't bother me but it is definitely something I noticed about how unrealistic the girl acted.
