They are shutting down.

This is a huge surprise, Ken Levine is moving onto smaller digital products.

I just played through the original bioshock a couple of weeks ago.

One of the best games I've played

Yes it is. Just think playing that game 6-7yrs ago. Was incredible, first game which the game play and story carried it since HL2 for me.

Swimming to that lighthouse after the crash; greatest gaming moment ever.

I thought all of their games sold well (they certainly played well). They must have lost a shite-ton of money along the way. You don't fire all those people because you want to have "a more direct relationship with gamers".

Happens all the time in that industry.

The troubled development of BioShock Infinite was no secret—Levine's latest game was an expensive production, affected by multiple delays and scrapped features, which might explain his new focus.

Levine actually spoke to this on his Nerdist interview. In his voice, it didn't sound "that bad", but guess he was banking on DLCs to pull them out the hole.

Apparently their games sold well, but there was probably a lot of pressure on Levine to make another BioShock FPS. Honestly, that would have been bad, because Infinite showed the limitations of the genre.

I don't even like seeing the words Blizz North. They had the D3 we wanted, but was shut down by Blizzard.

Wow. This is extremely bad for the industry. Well, everyone might get that Bioshock IOS they've been asking for.

I hadn't heard the story, care to link it? I'd love to read about it.

D3 was the most regretted gaming purchase in my life so I do have an interest.

That sucks. I just finished Infinite and I was definitely late to that party.

This is very telling of where the industry is. Games are ridiculously expensive to make now and it is harder to turn a profit.

Ordered last Wednesday, paid for overnight shipping, it was in Chattanooga, tn last Thursday, Birmingham last Friday and tupelo from Saturday til this morning when I finally got it. According to Fedex "inclement weather" in either Birmingham or tupelo delayed it from being on time which Is funny since I didn't notice a blizzard in either area this weekend.

I will search but it has been a long time. It was one of those "rumor" articles. Basically Blizz North was making an MMO type D3 with less P2W features. Blizzard didn't like the direction and cut the the studio short. The 2003-2005 development screenshots look better than the current D3.

Found a youtube on the cancelled project. Makes me furious they cancelled it, the screen shots looked like it could have been awesome. LINK

Really sucks. As far as overall games go (taking into account gameplay, graphics, story etc...) definitely one of the best series of all time.
