Is Avery Johnson the automatic replacement should Monty get fired?

He has a very close relationship with the Bensons and has been with them a lot lately. I would be very disappointment if he is eventually the new head coach but I worry it's inevitable.

he wants a front office job. The way Benson does business, Avery would have to serve in some smaller role in the front office before being given the keys to the car.

No, but I'd take him in the front office in a consulting role. He's seen how Cuban and the Crazy Russian run their organizations. He was part of the original San Antonio model, and he's a popular public figure. I think he could provide value in an advising and figurehead capacity, but I don't want him having any actual authority or power.
