So it's a Star Trek spin off?

I'm confused. Mokumentary?

Neither.

Its sort of a show within a show. Like the characters of Wreck it Ralph knew they were in video games, this main character figures out hes in a TV show and is expendable. Its all about his efforts to creatively not get killed.

It says this in the article the OP linked.

I just downloaded it to read for the first time. I thought that plot point was common knowledge. The iBooks synopsis even says it.

Ok. Cool. I didn't read the whole article, just the first few sentences and decided to download it.

our d has been atrocious and this is the weaning of the horrible coaches. The structuring of the coaching staff will provide a great upgrade period.

So essentially they ripped off Sam Rockwell's Guy character from Galaxy Quest and combined it with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead?

Yes, basically. I've heard rave reviews about it. Its been on my "to read" list for a while. Reading this made me download the book.

Not really b/c Sam Rockwell's character was an actor that knew he was in the TV Show. He had an outside life. Redshirts don't know they are just characters in a TV Show. They have no knowledge of the outside world.
