A few months ago I did the big upgrade of a cpu/mobo. I have always reinstalled windows after this type of upgrade but figured I would see what happened just plugging everything back up and booting. To my surprise everything worked just fine. Had to install drivers and such but there were no really bad problems.

Am I hampering my performance by not formatting and reinstalling? Also if I do, should I go back to Win7 or go with Win8 like I currently have?

Your performance won't take a hit, you will be less stable and encounter errors.

Yeah I guess I should have phrases that better. I haven't been running into errors. Just wondering if there is a reason I should do a clean install at this point if I don't get errors

Hardware upgrades do not require full rebuilds windows is capable of handling it.

"If it aint broke don't fix it" might be a good phrase for your situation.

However I normally reinstall in this situation but it is usually because I like to blow the computer away at least once a year and would use it as an excuse.

So I'm not the only one that likes to install and uninstall things?
