What are you looking to spend..

What version of Windows do you want...

What will you use it for....

If you get a Windows 8 laptop, get one with touch screen. It makes the user interface infinitely more useable and "unretarded".

I hate the new HP I have with windows 8 on it, in fact it is sitting here on my desk, about the only use I have for it is as a paperwight. I am posting from a 13 year old acer with windows xp. I will have to drop this one off by tims computers tomorrow.

ASUS i7 with pretty maxed out specs with Windows 7 can be found for like $700 or so.

I paid $900 for my ASUS with an i7, 4 gigs of RAM, and a middle of the road graphics card (plays WOW in 25m raiding with maxed graphics settings). runs like a hot knife through butter.

Just make sure if you go Windows 8 you make sure it's a touch screen, and upgrade (free) to Windows 8.1 right when you open the box.

I hated Windows 8 at first, but after a day or two it's just so intuitive. I don't like having to come to work and use 7 without the touch screen.
