Hey OT-Let's talk all things Time Travel

I'll start.
Is there anyway that the grandfather paradox could work? If you are unaware about the GP, it is the idea that in time travel, you go back and kill your grandfather before he makes your dad, thus preventing you from being born, which in turn prevents you from even killing him in the first place.
However, I was thinking that the paradox could simply cause a rip in time, leading to another parallel universe, with one timeline continuing as is, but the new timeline, leading from you being stuck in this new reality with no parents, and no way to return.
What do you guys got? All time travel discussion is welcome, and no, I'm not high

if you go back in time and frick your mom before she's your mom, can you become your own dad?

Thanks for the input...If time travel was real, I'd slip your dad a condom on the night of your conception

I like to think that if a time travel device were invented, the traveler would only be able to travel as far back as when the device was invented.

Time travel is not science fiction, it is fantasy. It will never happen, and can never happen. Drop it.

Why does it have to be your grandfather. Couldn't it be called the father paradox, and you just kill your father?
FWIW, if this is a serious thread, traveling to the future is completely possible, the past not so much at this point (unless you're superman).
If an astronaut left earth to travel to a distant galaxy, and he spent 10 years traveling at the speed of light, when he got back to earth it would be 1,000 years in the future. (and the cubs still would probably be without a World Series). That would be freaky, and the astronauts next ten generations of family would have lived and died.

We got a time machine. But it breaks all the time and stuff because some smart guy made it a long time ago.

I don't know, and if I think about it too hard it gets overwhelming sometimes.
One time I was on shrooms and looked at a website about time travel and I had to close my laptop because it was too much to handle.

I don't believe it, but for the sake of discussion regarding the hypothetical idea that time travel existed, this would be an option, yes

It does exist. Read my post. We just need a spaceship that can travel at or near the speed of light. So we can't do it now, but we know exactly how to do it.

That's not time travel, that's the theory of relativity in action.

I actually discovered a way to travel forward in time. Unfortunately I still cannot travel backward. Between reading the OP and posting this i traveled forward in time 5 minutes. The mission was an utter failure. Unfortunately I cannot yet go back and reclaim that time.
Also, one you realize that time is not linear it is cyclical you will realize that time travel is impossible since all of time happens at once and is interconnected.

I believe existence to be fractal, each instance having multiple possibilities and each possibility occurring in the multiverse. Therefore "time travel" could be just revisiting prior instances and making a different choice, following a road that still existed whether or not you went down it.

I do know that's a real possibility, but I doubt we will see it in our lifetime, and really, how would we know it works.
Travel into the past is near impossible, or out of our realm of understanding
