Is the OT kind of like the first year of college?

Sort of the basic classes everyone has to take, and then move on?
In other words, do most people gravitate from the OT after awhile to one of the other boards like Saints or Pelican Talk, More Sports, Soccer, Movie/TV etc. (I'm leaving Tiger Rant off the list because I kind of assume most people tend to find that at the very beginning and probably gravitate back there whenever their favorite LSU sports are in season).
Or is the OT more like a student union or quad where people kind of keep hanging out between other duties when they have a chance?

The OT is more like High School, where a bunch of nobody's think they swing big dick, when in reality, they barely got their degree and they'll live in their hometown forever
