Only decent beer by red brick IMO.

I completely agree tho that everything else is meh... They changed head brewers last year and the overall quality has been much better with the 20th anny and beard envy.

Yeah this 20th is great. Bourbon is there but doesn't overpower.

Will try to go beer free this week, except for tomorrow. I'm training some future mavens and we have a luncheon to go to. I'll be setting a good example and we'll be tasting some different beer styles.

Sounds interesting Dav. Wonder if it will be similar to palate wrecker (which I love)

Great Raft is now canning

sucks that they are only canning Southern Drawl (pale lager) first though, really hope they start canning Commotion soon

I was hearing comparisons to Heady, but that was months back (and a tall, tall order). All I want is a DIPA that LA can be proud of, and possible use as some trade bait

from their regular lineup

Commotion - really good pale ale
Reasonably Corrupt - really good dark lager, lots of coffee
Southern Drawl - ok pale lager, but will probably be their best seller, reminds me of Shift.

they have brewed a DIPA, that if they ever bottle it, will easily be one of the best beers in the state

Sucks that brewers invariably can/bottle the beer that most appeals to the masses and least appeals to the mavens...

Just my opinion, but I would think that the brewer that first produces a world-class IPA in Louisiana is going to create a huge buzz in the state. The state doesn't need another non-descript lager (not that this is non-descript...)

Since I'm bored and not drinking today, I thought I would ask about homebrewers in other states. One of the beers that I'm excited to try tomorrow is actually called PUB (Portland U-Brew) Dean's Stout. Apparently, they had a contest for home brewers and the winner (the aforementioned Dean) got to brew a large batch of the beer at PUB that was distributed to some of the area taprooms.

I thought that was interesting. Instead of homebrewers just getting a trophy and bragging rights, they actually get to put their brews out commercially. I'm really excited to try it.
