I can't drop 1-2k on a night vision scope just to shoot some coyotes. Is the $500 night vision stuff completely useless or will it be okay for shooting coyotes at 50 yards? Anybody have any recommendations?

Checking in. Armasight 3x magnification. Works great for my needs. Mounted on AR15. King Ranch posted a pic for me in the last night vision thread.

I was looking at that one. Got a link to that thread? The search function sucks.

Optics planet had it listed at $379 right now.

No idea on search function or how to link if I did find it. I'm computer dumb (by choice).

I really like mine. Be sure the illuminator has the battery installed correctly.

Eta: previous thread was from 1/27/14

The night vision technology has really come on the past few years. Though it may not be the "best" I think you can find something serviceable at 50 yards for that price. As with anything, do your research.

Or go in with some buddies on a nicer one

This is obviously out of your price range but interesting nonetheless.

Flir RS series. Affordable IR and gun mountable. Will be out very soon and 10x better than any NV.
