I am in the Alpha.

I think it is going to be REALLY popular.

Minecraft on steroids with RPG flavor thrown in.

In the video he talked about building underground, is it similar to minecraft in that you can dig tunnels and stuff like that?

I'm in as well (Liberation/Inlet).

Currently you don't start with crafting devices so you have to use the ones at the Spire or else use one on someone else's claim. The recipes have been pre-loaded and are based on the crafting device (example: you can only craft up to an Iron pick -I think- with a regular forge, in order to get higher-tiered picks you will have to craft a Marble Forge).

I just made my Cobalt pick this morning (but it's crappy quality so it's slooooow). Hoping to get my next level one this week (time permitting).

For those that haven't checked up too much on what is going on, the game is currently in Alpha testing. This means that pretty much all there is to do at the moment is to harvest resources (wood, gems & rock) and build things.

To build things you have to complete the appropriate recipe (which are divided among the resource tiers). With them though, you pretty much have Developer level building tools.

Here are just a few examples of what people are building at just a week into the test:

Good luck at being able to make smooth, rounded edges in Minecraft ;)

I've been signed up for the beta. It looks like a game I'd LOVE to play, but that kind of depends on how they handle the service. I kinda doubt I'd pay a monthly subscription.

This looks very neat. Is this going to be the same as Everquest NEXT?

From what I understand no. Everquest Next is their next attempt at an MMO. This is a Minecraft type game. There may be a tie-in where things built in Landmark may get used in Next but I've read conflicting reports on that so I don't really know.

Pretty much this. Landmark will have NPC's to fight, give quests, etc but will focus more on building/creating while Next will be the more traditional MMO but with (probably) the crafting/harvesting aspects from Landmark (as well as the destructibility of the world).

There hasn't been any mention on pricing for Landmark yet other than it will be F2P with money being generated mainly by micro-transactions. All SOE games (including Landmark and Next) will be covered by the new All Access pass pricing (which I believe is dropping from $19.99/month to $14.99/month in March or April).

I am having fun swinging my pick and upgrading it. Burled Wood collecting sucks though.

Yes. Landmark is a piece of Everquest Next. Landmark is the foundation that the game will be built on.

Someone already made the outer/newbie area of Qeynos and someone else made a druid ring

Just wait until you have to find Sapphires Not only are the nodes very small and rare, when they do spawn they are attached to Cobalt nodes. Rubicite is usually what is attached to Cobalt, but you usually won't know which you have until you mine down to it (best guess is that it's 90/10 Rubicite vs Sapphires).

For Burled Wood, make a couple of Keen Eye rings and equip them before you begin Paul Bunyaning. ;)

Took a half hour to find amethyst. Now I need to chop trees for burl wood to make the next pick so I can mine gold for the next axe.

Crafted at a really cool place someone built today. I think staking my claim on a tier 3 island was a good choice.

Yeah I need to find some amethyst, the bonus axe isn't worth much right now. I am on a tier 2 island.
