Tony Gonzalez is wavering

Appearing on ESPN's NFL Live Thursday, retired TE Tony Gonzalez left open the possibility that he'd sign with a contender for the "stretch run" in 2014. Gonzalez insisted last month that he was "at peace" with his decision to retire, but the fact that he would even entertain such a hypothetical is proof that he's still not quite ready to call it a day for good. Gonzalez looked like a player who could play another two or three seasons in 2013, so this definitely won't be the last you hear about possible return scenarios. We've got a new Favre on our hands.
Is he a free agent or do the falcons still have his rights?

Oh and he doesnt think Matt Ryan is elite
quote:
Tony Gonzalez believes former teammate Matt Ryan is not yet an elite quarterback. Gonzalez made the comments on ESPN's NFL Live Thursday. "Matt’s an excellent quarterback," Gonzalez said. "But he’s not elite. He’s this close. He’ll get there, but he has some learning to do." Gonzo is right, but it's surprising he'd be so upfront about his former quarterback barely a month after hanging it up. Ryan made it more clear than ever in 2013 that he's not a Peyton Manning-style elevator, but still someone who needs his teammates to elevate him to "elite" heights.

Would be interesting to see if the Pats would do it... They have a history of doing that with Seau for a couple years.

Yea, and now look at Seau. I think Tony will pass.

He also wanted to be traded from their dogshit team and not finish his career with losers
quote:
At the trade deadline, Gonzalez sat at a restaurant with his wife and waited to hear which team it would be. When that call never came, he was not happy.
