This guy knows what he is talking about.

LINK

here is a summary. obviously the video goes in depth on each.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you've heard of Crossfit and the workouts their workout of the day approach to fitness. That said, there is a lot of controversy surrounding the "sport of crossfit" and whether or not it's a good way to workout.

In this video, I put together the pros and cons of crossfit training and wanted to leave it up to the viewer to decide whether it's right for them.

Among the PROS covered in this crossfit workout review are:

1. Challenge based workouts
2. Metabolic conditioning vs steady state cardio
3. Community aspect

Among the CONS in this "what is crossfit" video are:

1. The low barrier to entry for crossfit boxes and coaches who own them.

2. Exercises with high technical demand done to failure and beyond.

3. Crossfit workouts being more exercise than training.

After watching this video on what crossfit is and what the pros and cons of the workout are, hopefully you'll be able to decide for yourself whether it's right for you.

I am not a crossfit fan but to each his own. I believe that many of the exercises they promote, such as high rep deadlifts, are very likely to result in injury. I also don't see the point. If you want to get big and strong lift and eat on a program based on the compound lifts and low calorie burning. If you want to train for endurance train for endurance.

The flaw is people thing doing the WOD off the website and shite will make them look like the people on tv.

There are much better programs to follow like Crossfit Football/Power Athlete or The Outlaw Methods .

Or a simple 5x5 while eating a chit load of food and sleeping like a bear. I don't have a problem with people doing Crossfit I just think there are better ways to accomplish what they want to accomplish. Contrary to the belief of many you cannot get big while cutting up.

is a great program esp for beginners but that will only take you so far.

Take a look at Crossfit Football, that is a legit program with legit results to back it up.

To be fair 5x5 isn't necessarily the best way to put on mass either.

And you don't have to get fat to get big, either. It will just take longer.

And intermediates and even some advanced lifters. I know more thn a few Elite lifters that still made gains on a 5x5 for some time.

I don't criticize anyone who exercises but I believe most people who do crossfit are not clear on what they are trying to achieve or they would pick a specific program. I powerlift so that is all that I do. If I wanted to be lean and ripped I would restrict my caloric intake and add in a great deal more accessory work. I think people who do Crossfit want to be big and ripped and don't understand how to go about it.

I disagree. Compound exercises with lots of food is and always has been the way to go if you want to pack on pounds.
