I did some research. Still perplexed. From what I've gathered, I believe my Jimmies are currently rustled, as are those of most posters on this board.

I don't wear jimmies. So they can never be rustled.

My jimmies are neat today. I'm off work. No rustling to be had.

jimmies
When rustled, convey feelings of discontent or of being upset. One can only reach true enlightenment when his jimmies are eternally unrustled.

Oh...I understand what the phrase means.....but I'm curious where the phrase comes from, and what a Jimmie is. (Like "That chaps my arse"....I know what an arse is, and I know how an arse can be chapped. However, I don't know what a Jimmy is...and I sure don't know how to rustle one.)

jimmies are those little psychological insecurities and triggers that you hold in delicate balance inside your psyche.

They become rustled when someone says or does something to disturb that delicate balance.

Using overt defensive techniques in communication is the only way to unrustle a rustled jimmie.

However, they often become re-rustled once it is pointed out that they were indeed rustled in the first place (usually through a trite message board meme).

You are looking for the etymology of said rustled jimmies.

Sometimes, things should be left alone...
