Questions about using coinbase

I'm interested in getting into bitcoin. Talked to a friend of mine who was buying from a local friend of his. I want to use coinbase but he said he was unable to get his bank account verified using Gulf Coast bank and his girlfriends Chase account was also unable to be used. Any pointers on which bank you yourself or anyone else use to purchase from this site? TIA

I use Bank of America. I've got friends that use everything from Navy Federal to Wells Fargo that haven't had problems with Coinbase.

Chase should work, she probably just did the verification wrong.

I use Capital One and then move my Bitcoins to BTC-E for trading from Coinbase. I recommend both and typically when I spend Bitcoin, I spend from my offline wallet.

seems like you have a lot of good answers already but I'll reply tomorrow if you still have questions.
just a suggestion, you should rename the thread title to something like "questions about using coinbase.com" so the admins don't delete it
