Baseball Scrimage Report 2-5-14

Laird and Stevenson did not play. Dean's 2B was a sinking liner which got passed CFer. DeHart's 2B was a shot to right center gap. Ibarra's 2B one hopped the left field wall. Bregman took a pitch off his forearm but didn't seem bothered by it. A cold north wind was blowing in from center field, making uncomfortable for the 20 or so spectators on hand.

In all of these scrimmage reports we don't seem to be hitting the ball that well or is our pitching that good?

They were just putting someone out there defensely. Nobody batted in that spot.

I'm not sure that he didn't play CF part of the time. They were alternating players out there and I couldn't always see the #.

Every winter, pitching is way ahead of hitting. Add in the extra cold temps, and it looks worse because balls don't come off the bat the same and hard hit balls to the OF die.

Im sure its also hard to get up to play against your teammates in cold temps. Especially for those who know they are starters.

If it would have been high scoring, people would be wondering if our hitting is that good or does our pitching suck?

All 3 runs today were scored in the same inning on a walk and two doubles. Pitchers had 8 K's and 3 BB's in 12 innings pitched. Only 3 hits for the entire scrimmage.
