Top 50 guy and top 3 at his position in the country.

Nice late pickup for a position of need.

In some circles (not me of course, they're different players - there's a lot to be said for a DT that is extremely difficult to move) - he's viewed as a consolation prize after losing GWIII - who now appears to be headed to JUCO, so everyone should be very happy.

I was happy anyway. The other mild surprises today and NO SIGNING DAY LOSSES (if we hold Clark) make me very happy.

I just think bc it was so late in the process and out of state the fanfare wasn't there like it was for a Godchaux or Malachi Dupree.

I mean as a top 3 player at his positon this was one of the most important kids in the class.

Yeah, I don't think anyone's underrating him. We couldn't have done much better after missing on GW.

I mean't underrated meaning I don't think people realize how huge this pickup is for the near future.

If he would have waited until 2pm we would all be going crazy with excitement. This was the commit I was most worried about. Was bouncing around the room when he made it official.

I'm not going to bother with fact checking this, but if I'm not mistaken, Valentine moved up significantly in the rankings this year compared to how he was rated coming into this school year.

If so, then he was underrated at that time. And he wasn't a household name in recruiting circles like LF... or Hand (the DE from VA). But by the time LSU became a player in his recruitment, he wasn't an under the radar type player either. I don't think many consider him underrated at this point.

Hope he does well at LSU.

I'd go as far as to say that, with his size, TV is more SEC ready (today) as a DT than GW. This isn't "sour grapes" as I'd still like to have GW but...he didn't look 6'3" & 274lbs when sitting next to his family at the All Star game.

In my opinion, TV was right behind LF, MD, and TQ as far as immediate need. Great job by Miles.
