I am going to be in nola for a week in March for a conference. What are the must go to restaurants and bars? Were staying in the quarter so walking distance for most stuff is preferable. Can only afford one or two high price meals, so holes in the wall are nice. Also what are overrated places to avoid at all costs.
As far as bars where is the best beer selection and where are the best cocktails?

Eat New Orleans.
It's BYOB, so snag a nice bottle on the way there.

A few options I'd recommend as being not overly expensive but excellent food include Sylvain, Peche, and Root. Are all close and have really impressive menus.
If you really want the high dollar stuff, Stella! and August are some of the best.
