TSA Officer at Bush IAH arrested, accused of making terroristic threat

Bottom line is the guy blew off steam at this boss and was fired from the TSA. They then use this trump up charges when he is flying out of the airport a week later and throw in he is a threat due to his CHL. But this is the kicker to me: here you have somone who you arrest because you believe they are a terrorist threat bent on killing as many people as he can but

quote:

Mouton faces a felony terroristic threat charge and was jailed with a $5,000 bond.

$5k bond for a terrorist? really? how does that make sense? Obviously it doesn't and we are making everyone criminals with our stupid laws. /rant

allegedly told a TSA supervisor that “he would rather vent than to come back and shoot up the place,” according to an arrest affidavit.
quote:

His supervisor told police she spoke with Mouton several minutes after he made the initial statement and said Mouton refused to recant it, then went on to repeat it several more times during their conversation.
He pretty much implied that if was not allowed to vent he would come back and shoot up the place. Not just once, but he later repeated the statement.

I would not suggest you go to your boss and tell him, if he doesn't let you voice your frustration that you will come back and shoot up the place.

I don't think he should be charged with making a terroristic threat. If the "muslim" Fort Hood shooter case was classified as work place violence, why would Mouton be charged with terrorists threats?

Norm: I got a plane full of people saying you threatened that stewardess.
Greg Focker: I was not threatening her. I was just trying to get my bag into the overhead storage thing...
Norm: You were acting like a maniac and you threatened her with a bomb.
Greg Focker: No, I said I didn't have a bomb.
Norm: But you said bomb.
Greg Focker: I said, "It's not like I have a bomb".
Norm: You said "Bomb" on an airplane.
Greg Focker: What's wrong with saying 'Bomb' on an airplane?
Norm: You can't say 'Bomb' on an airplane!
Greg Focker: Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb. You gonna arrest me? Bomb bomb bomb bomb! During the war I was a BOMBadier!

Not remotely what he said if the quote is accurate.

Sounds to me like he is saying that being allowed to vent is better than doing like the postal people did and bottled it all up and then went nuts.

His tirade may have gone too far, but I agree with this:

He said "he would rather vent than to come back and shoot up the place". Those are his words not mine. The statement implies if is not allowed to vent, there is a remote possibility he might take out his frustrations with a gun.

I don't know what tone he used or whether or not if he was joking and smiling. BUT the supervisor asked him to recant the statement and he repeated it several more times.

I would rather drink beer than cut off my penis.

Does that imply that I want to cut off my penis?

The TSA swore out the complaint, crafted the charging language, and made the arrest.

However, they don't get to decide what bail is appropriate. The court decides that, based on their own determination of the guy's risk of danger and non-appearance in court.

That possibly explains the ostensible contradiction.

If his boss was a guy, this wouldn't have happened.

I know a guy who was fired from his job working for an Exxon sub-contractor and charged with a felony terrorist threat because shite wasn't going his way one day and he said "This is the kinda shite that makes you wanna go get your gun". Dude's an old hippie, he probably doesn't even own a gun. A very stupid thing to say but felony terrorist threat is a bit much.
