Car: Honda Civic

Problem: Car won't accelerate quickly. The RPMs won't really go above 2500-3000, so the car accelerates very slowly. Eventually, after driving it for about 10 minutes, it gets better and starts accelerating normally.

Any idea what this could be? Hopefully something like a fuel filter or injector?

No Check Engine light?

It's not an injector. Maybe the filter.

No. Temp is fine, no lights of any kind.

I am. I just want to know what things can commonly cause this.

Plus, I don't have the greatest of trust in mechanics in Katy. I've been lied to several times.

It's probably something Les Miles did. Everything bad he has a hand in somehow. Right? I'd take it up to the AD's office if I were you.

Sounds like a fuel pump going bad.

Could very well be. I figured it would cause more missing or noise, because the car is running with normal sound.

I would hope not, but from my understanding it's rare for the fuel pump to go bad on a Honda civic. But, it is possible.

Auto. I would figure it isn't the transmission because it still goes into gear and there are no other symptoms of tranny problems.

Well, it started doing it after I replaced the valve cover gasket about 3 weeks ago.

I had one of the mechanics near me look at it and he said didn't see anything overtly wrong with it and reset the keep alive memory. It worked since then just fine until this morning. Temp did drop again, but it worked in the cold weather last week just fine.
