Do the archetypes personified in this movie even exist in US high schools in 2014? It seems like all kids that age these days are all the same (and all glued to their technology)

Of course. There's as many cliques now as ever, just because people have iPhones doesn't mean the world ended.

It would be someone addicted to social media, a kid who's confused about his sexuality, the redneck methhead, a hipster who wears skinny jeans, and an intolerant religious fanatic.

All these still exist
Just because technology has changed doesn't mean cliques died out
dumbass

Great movie, but...
That's by far the dumbest part in it.

I expected a little more from a varsity letterman.

The part that gets me every time, ever since the movie came out, is the part when they break for lunch.
Molly Ringwald has the sushi, the basket case puts Capn Crunch and pixie sticks on her sandwich (tosses the slice of olive loaf and it slaps onto the statue, this is usually where I lose it), Anthony Michael Hall has soup in a thermos and a PB&J sandwich while Emilio Estevez has a huge grocery bag full of 3 sandwiches, 1/2 gallon of milk, a huge back of chips, a bag of donuts, and an apple.

'Andrew! You've got to be number one! I won't tolerate any losers in this family! Your intensity is for shite! Win! Win! Win!' You son of a bitch. You know, sometimes I wish my knee would give. And I wouldn't be able to wrestle anymore. And he could forget all about me.

Bender: The door's way too heavy, sir.
The door slams shut.
Vernon: God damnit! Andrew Clark...get up here. Come on, front and center, let's go.

In my HS there were only two. Redneck and Not Redneck.

I would say that 7th or even 6th grade kids today proabably deal with the same shite the Breakfast Club dealt with then.

is overrated IMO. It just comes as whiny to me now.

But what if there's a fire? I think violating fire codes and endangering the lives of CHILDREN would not look good at this juncture.
"What are you doing? Get this outta here!"
