Watched it last night and I practically held my breath the entire time.

At first I was like

And then I was like

When all of a sudden...

And then I was like

Me going to bed:

Anyone else experience a similar emotional roller coaster?

Just started watching after catching the series 3 1st episode and was hooked. The entire family is now watching it from the begining and loving it.
Very well done.

I watched the first two seasons over the summer and my roommate and I used our snow days to start back from episode 1 and work our way to season 3 episode 3.

Snow days well-spent, IMO

I thought it was the worst one in the series.

Most of Britain did too. Reviewers loved it though.

I came home one day over christmas break and my sisters were watching it and I sat down paying no mind and 20 min in I was hooked. We went on a spree and I just watched the last episode the other day. Really is a great show. I am not into most crime drama or really many dramas but damn, this show kicks arse.

**SPOILERS for the last episode**

When Moriarity killed himself the first time I was like no way that happened. Even the next few episodes I was like how is he gonna come back. As soon as the last episode ended I was like damn, wonder how they get Sherlock back to London now and then when they all said it can't be I was like "Friggin finally"

No way they could keep Moriarity out that long. Now I have to friggin wait for the next season whenever the hell that is

Wasn't my favorite episode but it was still entertaining to me at least

I've been watching Season 1 & 2 through Netflix, the last month, will finish Season 2 this weekend. Is there any way to catch up on Season 3?

The ending. Sherlock's declaration that he was a sociopath (not the first time). The ensuing events. Just wow.

Seriously? I thought it was one of the best episodes. It definitely threw a bunch of curve balls out there.

When Sherlock told Magnussen something to the effect of "Do your research. I'm no hero, I'm a high functioning sociopath. Merry Christmas" and shot him I was caught by total surpise. And once I realized that he was fulfilling his one and only vow from episode 2 (thus the title of the episode), I thought it was a really cool way to end the 3rd season. And the whole Moriarty reveal at the end was just icing on the cake at that point.

One thing that whole ending proved though, is that he really isn't a sociopath since a true sociopath would never be moved enough by friendship to sacrifice themselves.

I suppose. At the same time, it invites the discussion of his true motivations. We can't know his awareness of the situation. If he realized that it was not a true sacrifice or if it was truly utilitarian in purpose, well, it calls into question how legitimate of a "sacrifice" it truly was.

Additionally, he probably could suspect that he wasn't going to do hard time and that would receive an alternative punishment.

That alternative punishment was to be sent on a mission that his brother said he wouldn't survive. If we are to assume that he knew his brother would get him out of jail time, then I would also have to assume that he figured that he'd have to go on that mission. Based on what he said at the airport to John, I think he fully intended not to be making a return trip (and thus knew he was sacrificing himself).

Bingo. I was just talking to my roommate about him. If he was a true sociopath he wouldn't care so deeply about john.
