Tigerland cat calling leads to 4th offense DWI arrest

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A 25-year-old man was arrested for suspected drunk driving after he allegedly caused a small traffic jam in Tigerland.

"The defendant stopped while a line of approximately 10 cars waited," the arresting officer noted in the probable cause report. "He stopped in the middle of the roadway to talk to and pick up some girls."

The incident happened in the 1100 block of Bob Pettit at roughly 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The officer conducted a traffic stop and claims that the driver, Brennan Ritchie, displayed signs of intoxication.

"He had red eyes, slurred speech, poor balance and strong odor of alcoholic beverage," the officer noted.

Ritchie refused to submit to a blood alcohol test. The officer noted that he has three prior arrests for DWI. According to court documents, his second DWI arrest was dismissed.

Ritchie was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison for DWI (4th offense), obstruction of public highway, and reckless operation. He posted a bond of $7,500 and was released the same day as his arrest.
