Gas fireplace question

Gas w fake logs, do I need to crack the vent to run it, seems like it'll let all heat out defeating purpose if power goes out

I think it depends on if you have ventless or not. Not 100%. I always opened the flue just in case and it didn't really seem to affect the heating capability.
