Get paid to get the flu and let NIH scientists study you.
How much you wanna bet these participants get counted as "jobs created?"

Man, that jogs a memory cell. About 10 years ago parents were throwing 'get sick' parties for their teens. You found someone with a certain type of flu and invited them over. The sick person drank from a cup and then all the healthy kids drank from it in order to get sick.
Does anyone remember the reason for this? It might have been an attempt to develop an immunity.

I think it was chicken pox or something like that.

I don't think it was pox. I want to say it was a new strain of flu. Maybe the idea was to get sick during break time so you wouldn't get sick and miss classes later. But I definitely remember parents trying to get their kids sick.

I have heard of parents doing that for chicken pox, never the flu. Either way I think that it is crazy to intentionally get your child sick.

Two questions:
1. Can you get chicken pox by drinking after an infected person?
2. Why would you do it to teenagers? I got the pox when I was about 5.
