My plane leaves at 7:15 from new Orleans airport and i would like to get there by 6:15. I live in Hammond, what is the best way to get there because of these closures. I know that I-55 and causeway is closed. But I think I can take the twin span from Slidell or take the old low road near I-55 which is called US 51. Does anyone have any input or advice?

My only concern is that bridge near Manchac. None of the websites is saying that US 51 is closed. I know Slidell is so far out of the way. I would have to leave at 4:15 and still not make it because of the unknown

US 51 to Airline Highway would seem like the best route. I doubt that I-10 over the spillway will be open.

Try 12W to Hwy 63, Exit 22 Then go south to Hwy 444 then east to Hwy22. Take Hwy22 to Sorrento, Airline (US61). Take 61 south to MSY. Its a long trip so leave early. A coworker just took that route from NOLA to Hammond. Hope this helps.

Wouldn't most flights be cancelled with the crazy weather there?

I can't imagine that weather canceling flights. Just because southerners can't drive in a little snow/ice does not mean that an airport would stop functioning.

No but if he's heading north his flight may be cancelled.

Booku =/= beaucoup, but I think that's what it's now come down to.

Seems that I've seen it spelled bookoo. It's from the Vietnam war so the translation to English is phonetic. It was common slang for 'a lot' back in the day.

Yes, as a phonetic spelling of "beaucoup."

I'm sure it's been used for longer than that.

It still is.
