It is time to have some fun guys! (And girls)

Again, these are not from LSU, these are my projections only. I am basing this off of how I think the lineup should look but I am always about hearing your thoughts.

Defense

C - Kade Scivicque
1B - Tyler Moore
2B - Kramer Robertson
SS - Alex Bregman
3B - Christian Ibarra
LF - Jake Fraley
CF - Andrew Stevenson
RF - Mark Laird
DH - Sean McMullen/Jarret DeHart

Friday - Aaron Nola
Saturday - Cody Glenn
Sunday - Joe Broussard

Mid-Week - Jared Poche/Parker Bugg

Lineup (vs. RHP)

1 - Mark Laird (RF)
2 - Sean McMullen (DH)
3 - Alex Bregman (SS)
4 - Christian Ibarra (3B)
5 - Tyler Moore (1B)
6 - Jake Fraley (LF)
7 - Kramer Robertson (2B)
8 - Kade Scivicque (C)
9 - Andrew Stevenson (CF)

Lineup (vs LHP)

1 - Mark Laird (RF)
2 - Sean McMullen (DH)
3 - Alex Bregman (SS)
4 - Christian Ibarra (3B)
5 - Kramer Robertson (2B)
6 - Kade Scivicque (C)
7 - Jarret DeHart (1B)
8 - Jared Foster (LF)
9 - Andrew Stevenson (CF)

I still think Jake Fraley, Kramer Robertson, and Kade Scivique end up being permanent starters. Sorry Foster but I can see Fraley becoming the everyday starting LF by March :(

I wouldn't be shocked to see Laird/Stevenson swap spots there.

You mean he said this? Or you predict that's what it'll be? I can't imagine McMuffin leading off.

Let me find the article... It had something to do with Stevenson not leading off and McMullen being successful there.

Why? He did a great job last year. Plus PM has been interviewed saying he loves guys like McMullin leading off. He led the sec in doubles the majority of the season.

Tyler Moore needs to be an everyday player

I liked McMullen leading off but he was a doubles machine so why not put the singles machine ahead of him in Laird and add some runners on base for him?

Also, Fraley gets more PT than you all are saying thus far. I haven't seen enough people getting on board yet but I promise you this kid is going to hit like crazy and end up being a Freshmen All American

Pretty sure Tyler Moore will be behind the plate.

He was great for us last year, absolutely. I just thought with Stevenson's emergence in the summer/fall, along with Laird being in the mix, would make it harder to get McMullen in the leadoff slot. I personally like more of a slap hitter in the leadoff spot and think McMullen would make a great 2-hole. It's all a matter of your baseball philosophy.

He was inconsistent at points last season, especially against Lefties

Those are my "beginning of the season" projections. Fraley had a disappointing fall.

In the same interview where PM raved about Mac at leadoff, he mentioned that Fraley looked like a totally different player last week. I do think he finds a way into the outfield, but if those 3 (Laird, Stevenson, and Foster/McMullen) start off too hot, he may not get as many chances.

PM Q&A
quote:

I was thinking about making (Andrew) Stevenson a leadoff hitter. Stevenson reminds me a lot of a Jared Mitchell or a JaCoby Jones type: a really good athlete that can do some spectacular things, but you’ve got to kind of let them play. You can’t manipulate him into being the player you want him to be. You’ve got to let him be the player he is. Those type of kids, sometimes you can overcoach them, and that’s not positive for them.

So instead of leading off Stevenson and make him take pitchers and make him bunt, I’m probably going to end up hitting him sixth or seventh in the order like I did with Jared Mitchell and JaCoby Jones, and just let them play and hope they do more positive things than negative things.

If I did that, I’d probably put Sean McMullen back in the leadoff spot (where he was last year). He was great for us. He’s got a nice blend of power, and he can run. A lot of doubles. I think Sean has kind of figured it out, and I’m thinking he’s ready to have a fantastic year.

I like (Mark ) Laird in the 2 hole. He can handle the bat a lot and can really run. And Bregman’s your 3 hole hitter.
quote:

Probably the top freshman recruit coming in out of our evaluation is a kid name Jake Fraley. Jake had a very, very poor fall. But (Thursday) was the first day I’ve seen him hit since he came back, and it was like night and day from what we saw in fall practice. I don’t know if he’s going to continue this over the next three, four weeks, but (Thursday) it was awe-inspiring to see the way he took batting practice.

Interesting. There's no shortage of options, that's for sure.

Posche needs to be a weekend starter. I do not have enough faith in Broussard to fulfill that role.

But you have faith in a guy that's never thrown a pitch in college?

I understand what you're saying, but if I had to guess, Broussard will get the courtesy Sunday spot to start the year and eventually Poche could work his way in.
