What do you think about this guy?

For the most part, I like him. He is definitely elite when it comes to talking NOLA music and older stuff. His interviews and personal profiles are usually interesting.

He is, however, limited when discussing newer artists and albums. TP/nola.com should pick up a younger person to help on that end.

I agree...think he does a pretty good job. Concentrates a little too much on the bigger acts that come to the Dome/Arena, but that's what a lot of people want to hear about.

Reviews are solid, just wish he'd focus a little more on some of the smaller clubs...though to his credit, he does mention many smaller gigs in his Friday picks in the Lagniappe section

They also have Alison Fensterstock, who seems to pick up more the younger and/or lesser known artists. For example, here and here.

Alex Rawls who runs MySpiltMilk.com and contributes to The Advocate writes a lot about younger, newer musicians.

His elitism rubs me the wrong way.

Sat at Jazzfest and watched him interview MuteMath for an hour. He did his research and asked some great questions. I never felt like he didn't know what he was talking about. He asked things about the band that I had never heard MM talk about.

No one will ever know about every band in NOLA. There's just too many of them out there. I think he holds his own around town.
