Perhaps he did.
It still can be made into a discussion of the government's selective enforcement of laws,
it's willingness to ignore laws it doesn't like and Obama's penchant for changing by executive fiat, laws that are politically inconvenient.
When the government is lawless, it's a hard sell to tell the people that they should be lawful.

Yeah this really should be a warning to others. If you are going to skirt the campaign finance laws, launder it through Tibetan monks who are known to be poor but when Al Gore comes by are suddenly able to donate hundreds of thousands.
