4 years 52 million.

I'm a little surprised he got 4 years.

and that much. I guess a more defensive park like Milwaukee will help his numbers.

Also, here's the first of the post-Tanaka dominoes. I bet a lot of pitchers go off the board by Monday

what that says to me is that contenders weren't offering that 4th year.

I agree. It should start moving pretty quickly for those left out there.

I really had hoped that the cubs would have locked him down with a long term deal to build around.

Now, I have to watch him as part of the brew crew. frick. just frick.

Considering how crazy the market is, that's actually a pretty good deal for both sides. Good landing spot for both parties too.

I don't rememeber the rumored extension numbers, but surely they were better than this...but problaby not for more than 3 years.

And it's not like he really jumped up the competitive team ladder either, because both the cubs and brewers suck, with a slight edge to the cubs because money should eventually be there and the pieces are already coming through the minors.

I think it's good for garza...gets the 4th year makes some money.

I don't understand it for the brewers, this doesn't make them competitive and just keeps them floundering around probably with a record good enough not to have a protected pick next year but not good enough to actually make any hay.

all y'all saying the Brewers aren;' a contender, there's a very good core and a number of very good young players like Jean Segura, Carlos Gomez and Khris Davis. 1st base and another front end pitcher are the two big holes. 1 of those holes have now been filled.

best of luck to the brewers. But they won't make the playoffs.
