This will end well.

quote:

The state would end its successful Operation Impact crime-fighting initiative and replace it with a program to fight gun violence upstate, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today.

Started in 2004 under Gov. George Pataki, Operation Impact had been hailed as focusing the resources of police agencies toward areas of crime upstate, leading to a 14 percent decline in crime in those regions.

But Cuomo is proposing the $15 million a year for the program be shifted to a gun-violence program, called GIVE -- Gun-Involved Violence Elimination. He said Operation Impact has largely led to a reduction in property crime.

"Through GIVE, local law enforcement will adopt proven strategies to prevent gun violence, ensuring that New York remains the safest large state in the nation," according to the budget presentation.

The proposal comes after Cuomo last year shepherded through the Legislature a tough gun-control law that has been assailed by gun-rights groups.

What a frickin idiot. I want to know what the hell he plans on doing when Officers and Deputies are laid off and the crime rate climbs even higher.

Response times will suffer and high crime areas will not get the patrol frequency that they need.

God forbid you take that money from all of the handout programs.......this could get interesting

Why can't you liberals stay on topic? Always resorting to personal attacks.

Hell hath no fury like a scorned woman.. eh?

As usual, nothing to offer but personal attacks. Failed stances and indefensible positions seem to be a recurring theme with you, which I suppose, is why you act the scorned woman part.

Excellent use of facts to support your position on the article presented. Will try to learn from this and pattern my posts after it in the future. I am impressed by the way you avoided the ad hominem attack strategy.

I hope he enjoys his last term in office. No way this hack is re-elected. 2014 elections will be a national blood bath.

This can't be said enough.

You're losing it, and it's fun to watch.

But seriously, please don't kill yourself because of this board. It's not worth it.
