Does TD get protection from liability or slander suits as it's a public forum? Or is that why the admins police it so heavily( aside from enforcing the rules)? The sorostitute porn thread from last night has me wondering if Chicken is at risk from a lawsuit for things posted here.

I highly doubt they have any liability. The poster of illegal content probably would be responsible if anything

What about that thread could he possibly get in trouble over? Everything was taken right off the internet.

He runs a tight ship because he has respectable people advertising here and the forums aren't intended to create drama like that thread could potentially cause. Better to just whack stuff like that and keep a good reputation going. Why bother with threads that post people's personal info when the site is supposed to be about sports.

slander suits

Slander by definition is spreading false statements.

Nothing in that thread I read was false.

Dumb skank willingly does porn, mentions her own mother in it, hometown finds out, hilarity ensues. No slander there.

Yep. Everything found was in public domain. And external links used; nothing hosted here.

Then why did the thread get whacked?

I'm certainly not finding fault or alleging anything, I'm just wondering if TD ,or for that matter, youtube, Reddit, etc. have to whack threads, vids, etc. for legal reasons or if its up to their discretion/choice only.

Just because someone isn't liable doesn't mean they won't be sued.

It's much easier to avoid trouble by being pro-active and removing potentially troublesome posts and threads. I'm sure not driving off any advertisers also plays a part.

So how far did that thread end up going? I was around for about the first 12 pages....Facebook pics were being posted and the KD's were swearing they had never heard of the girl...

It's a privately owned website so it's up to them what goes or stays. Easier to whack things early rather than give them any chance of causing trouble. Basically what Yones said.

Maybe for something different, but that chick did something that will be on the internet forever, no way he'd be liable for that.

I wonder how many times Chicken has gotten a subpoena for user information?

That's fairly low for 10 years, thousands of members and millions of posts.

The Bengals cheerleader/thedirty.com lawsuit that is going on should be of interest to any sites like this.

I don't know enough to pretend to understand how it could affect TD, but feel free to read up on it.
