(another) 'elysium' question

just watched 'elysium' for the first time. not a classic by any stretch, but better than i expected, given the mixed reviews. anyway, i have a question (SPOILER alert)......
if kruger can be brought to life by the healing machine, how come they couldn't do the same for max at the very end? i might've been distracted & missed something, but surely kruger wasn't still alive after his face got blown off?
anyone?

I thought his face got blown off, but his brain still had enough functionality for his face to be regenerated and then his heart restarted?
Your other question wasn't it something like using the brain codes ended up killing him? So I guess brain functions and science, ya know?

i guess it's possible kruger's brain was still functioning, but it seemed kinda far-fetched (i know, i know, much of the movie is far-fetched to begin with, lol) because so much time elapsed between when he got shot & when he finally got placed in the machine....
heh, i figured max would've had better odds since someone could've quickly carted him to one of the machines...but if brain functionality is the key, i guess it wouldn't matter. so in that case, i'll have to call bullshite on kruger surviving

yeah, they made it clear if you watched carefully that his brain was intact
it was far fetched but you have to buy into another great leap in technology to believe in those machines to start with.
