I hate Oprah but I gave this movie a shot. Pretty damn good, right up to the end where they sucked off Obama in a way that made the film awkward and just unpleasant. Otherwise, pretty good movie imo.

ETA: Essentially they were advocating voting for a person just because they were black. Which is total bull

This is ok. You can't be black and a racist. Einstein proved it wasn't possible.

Forrest Whitaker's transformation into old age was flawless.

My friend was in the movie. He had a very small role (had lines, but they were cut), but was credited by name so he got a SAG card and gets royalties for a long time.

Apparently Oprah takes care of her people...

Said his first royalty check is going to be around $15k

I still thought the movie sucked.

I dont think I'll watch it, knowing that they distort that actual story.

I can't bring myself to see a movie essentially made by Oprah. She is god damned insufferable. Its a shame because I really like Forrest Whitaker.

Who was the black guy that declined a role for this movie and trashed it for being garbage?

Yeah, just an incredible frick you to the audience. I'm so glad that no one really fell for this film's bullshite of pure white guilt, and really undeserved white guilt at that. 12 Years was great and they wanted to tell a worthwhile and great story. I doubt a single thought went into this film that didn't involve white guilt and the rise of the black man.
