Microsoft has announced it is spicing up the live football coverage available through its Xbox One NFL Network app by offering something that current cable and satellite boxes simply can’t: sports delivered at 60 frames per second. Thanks to a new partnership with the online streaming specialists at Neulion, Microsoft will be able to increase the frame rate of its live football app content to up to double the frame rate of broadcast TV.

That's double what satellite, cable, and network TV offer. Pretty cool feature when it happens. 60 FPS should be standard for all media across the board now days anyway IMO.
Now we just need some 4K content and it will finally be time to invest in 4K TVs. 4K at 60 FPS

Which I'm sure either the app or the games are going to cost something correct? I highly doubt all NFL games are just going to come standard with xbox live.
Considering Sunday ticket itself is 300$+ every single season.

If you have a fiber type speed connection shite will be so bad arse. Another reason not to buy cable with the console add ons and pc programs like xbmc. Hopefully PS4 will end up getting this as well. PS3 had NFL sunday ticket you could stream from the console.

Is there a cable provider prerequisite like everything else (ie. Verizon, Comcast, Cox, etc.)? I don't know what my Cox Cable log in/password info is so I always miss out.

Like most apps of its kind, the NFL Network app requires a current subscription with a cable service that carries the channel, as well as an Xbox Live Gold membership, so cord-cutters will still be forced to find their sports by other means.

So this is kind of like the HBO Go app, but you can only use it if you subscribe to HBO through your cable provider. Meh, no thanks. They're trying harder and harder to get people to pay separately for NFL games and sorry but I'm not interested. It seems like they're constantly trying to get more and more money out of cable subscribers, and all at a time when cable subscribers are so sick of paying so much for TV that they are dumping cable all together.

This just sounds funny to a PC gamers, but we forget all other media is at 22 or 30fps.
XBONE will probably become the better choice for a pure home entertainment tool, nice to see them adding more and ore features.

Clarification. is it like espn3 where you can watch as long as you log in with charter? or you just have to have a provider that carries nfl network?
ETA: this + my 2ms refresh rate IPS will make it worth ditching the 47" for the 23"

What does input lag have to do with watching video?

"IPS stands for "In-Plane Switching", and is the best technology for LED panels in terms of color accuracy and general quality. The cheapest monitors are TN panels, usually with fast refresh times but they have poor color and generally look washed out. Most panels are TN though. There are PVA panels as well, which are better than TN, but not as good as IPS"
And I was under the impression that 2ms RR would be similar to 240hz for a tv. apologies for my lack of nerd :/

Huh?
This is a free to use app as long as you already get NFL network through your cable or satellite provider. I don't see how that equals them trying to get more money out of you by giving you another medium to watch the programming you already pay for and not raising the price for doing so.
