Well I just got news that I've been accepted into the graduate school at the University of Miami so I guess I'm just posting this here to see if I can get some advice on anyone who has lived in or been to the city. Not looking for anything specific at the moment, just any useful info.

Or any advice on moving to a large city as a whole. I've spent my life in Columbia, SC. Its a city sure, but a small one, so any advice from anyone who has moved into a much larger city / area and what that change was liked would be greatly appreciated.

Also, because this is a thread about Miami, I feel this is obligatory..

Be prepared for some to tell you to look elsewhere and that you're bragging

Keeping both options open. When I went to SC there were a lot of off campus apartments designed for students which I imagine I'll at least check out.

Learn spanish

I've been trying to be fluent and took some higher level Spanish courses as an undergrad. I'm okay at it, luckily the program itself offers courses.

I cannot stress how much I really need to land a fellowship or 2 to cover that.

You don't need to learn Spanish. I speak Spanish and only used it once when I was there

Yes, as it turns out you need a Master's degree to become shift manager.
