Wife just texted me and said they were eating lunch today and Wade sat at the table next to them. Got a call from Kubiak and said all she could hear was that they were both talking to the Titans.

Wow. Makes sense for Ken to take that job over the Lions if they promised to get those two guys.

The game has passed both Kubiak and Phillips by. Terrible hire for the Titans if true

I totally believe this with Kubiak. The entire NFL has his play book because he runs 5 plays.

as someone whos followed the last 8 years of his career closely, i dont think the game has passed him by. i think his ego has been out of control. heres my evidence:
-he hired his own GM. in what world does the coach select his boss? and how did kubz know him? they were buddies back from their denver days (you will notice this pattern with kubiak)
-only hires his buddies: first DC he hired, richard smith, was awful. their connection? crossed paths from their days in denver. frank bush is elevated to DC. another former bronco. hes blows, too. the next time a DC is hired "daddy mcnair" hires bum's kid
-the entire QB situation. i honestly believe he liked matt schuab b/c he couldnt threaten him. schuab worked hard, did as he was told, but could never undermine kubiak or his system. why TJ yates as the backup? b/c he is matt schuab, just 7 years younger.
-never brought in a veteran QB to push the starters. he liked players he could control. the idea of bringing in peyton manning before the 2012 season, who would call the shots was a no-go. kubiak calls the plays, not the QB.

i think "because he runs 5 plays" comment is b/c he refused to upgrade the offense: QB, RT after winston was cut, no WRs to compliment andre johnson until it was too late (when they draft deandre hopkins). he was so arrogant to think his system was enough, and mcnair wouldnt fire him.

as far as him coordinating for another team, its a commitment. will they change to a zone blocking system? i would assume so b/c thats the offense kubiak runs. its not something you just switch to, then switch back after a year. it takes committing to smaller OL and 1 cut RBs. i think whiz is a good coach, dont know why he's want to hitch his wagon to gary kubiak

Wade runs a base defense and doesn't game plan very much. He is very reluctant to change and teams have been out scheming him for a few years now.

What successful teams have done this? Especially in the salary cap era? What veteran QB could you bring in to "challenge" the starters with out giving him starter money? Given that probably the Texans biggest problem was managing the salary cap, how could you have paid 2 starting QB?

This has become the white whale of sorts for some Texans fans. Manning was not a realistic possibility. They had cap problems already and could have have paid him Contrary to popular myth, Manning was not going to sign some minimum, incentive based contract.
