MLK Day totally crept up on me so I find myself trying to make plans over the next couple days.

An idea that came to me was St. Augustine. Should be decent weather in the 60s.

I went there as a young'n but I think I'd appreciate it much more at this point. Really love history and that city is among the most historic on this side of the world.

What should I check out while I'm there? What are some good eats and drinking spots? Also, any natural attractions (parks, beaches, etc) worth devoting time to?

I was there a few months ago. Honestly there is so much to see I would just wander around. Check out where they stored all the explosives in the fort (if you aren't fat).

It's very touristy so get ready to overpay for shite.

I was only there for the afternoon. Only thing that sticks out was the fort, tourist shite. We did eat at two great restaurants (there are many).

One was Casa Benatello (sp?) and some other place I forgot the name of.

I know this isn't much help....

Grandaprents used to have a place down there and I would go three times a year. It's been a few years, but the main places we'd eat were Harrys, O'Steens, and the Conch House.
Definitely wander the city (the ghost tours are pretty awesome, too).
The Alligator Farm is touristy as frick but still awesome (GOMEK FOREVER, BITCHES!).
Checking out the old fort is a must as well (if you've never seen it before).
The Fountain of Youth is a tourist trap, but at least you can say you've been.

Isn't St. Augustine the oldest city in America?

If you act like a dumbass tourist, it could be. It's fairly easy to have a different experience.

It's a great place for relaxing and taking it easy. Not a good place if you are looking to party.

If you know nothing of the area and are visiting for the day, how do you not act like a dumbass tourist?

I'm not looking to go from the winnnddddddooooooowwwww, to the wallllllllllllll (to the wall). With the sweat drop down my ball.

Just looking for a cool place with a lot of walkable things to do and some cool places to get sleepy drinking at.

I'd also like to consume some gator meat.
