LSU Basketball - Player Draw to Come to LSU?

I'm a little baffled as to why a player would pick to come to LSU to play basketball. I was excited about the signees we had that are here this year and the ones we have on board for next year. However, how do you sell a kid on coming to LSU to play basketball? What are the positives? We play in the SEC, yes, but the SEC basketball conference is not what it is in football and baseball. LSU games only average a couple thousand fans, and football and baseball are way more of the focus. What would you sell a kid on to make him decide to come to LSU and play basketball? Not a bashing question, just an honest discussion.

Building a program and being a builder can be a pretty legit selling point. Also, immediate playing time.

The food? If the kid is from LA, Miss, or other close states you sell them on not being far from home. Of course, if they want to get away from home you have lost them already. In other cases the recruit has a tie to a coach or the University. Malik Morgan's mother went here and he was from N.O. We have a recruit coming who is from Australia and one of our coaches is his godfather. Shane Hammink's father was a player here and Johnny Jones was his assistant coach. Jarell Martin is a hometown boy who decided to stay here. Mickey's half brother was on the football team.
And quite frankly, I would imagine that a lot of the foreign recruits and even those from other parts of the country don't know that the SEC is not that great for basketball or that the games draw so little. They think the SEC's reputation for football carries over to basketball. After all they know Florida won back to back National Chapionships and that Kentucky won one a couple of years ago and is one of the most prestigious basketball schools year in year out.

Impossible. LSU has nothing to offer. We suck. Sky is falling.

We should never play BBall again.
JJ should have lost more games last year.

The current hoops program is very similar to the football program when Saban first arrived in 2000.
JJ needs to 'put up walls' around the Louisiana border and get the majority of that talent as the base, and compliment it with some nice out of staters interested in playing ball here. If that happens, then the program becomes self-sufficient so to speak and should reload itself as needed.
Its frustrating right now, but I do think JJ has LSU basically on the right track.

We have had decent X and O coaches like Brady and Trent. We have had recruiters like Johnny Jones and most of his staff. We need both or we need a combination of both on staff. The in game coaching and the petal to the metal style Johnny wants to play is conducive to turnovers and when Ole Miss throws a zone at LSU all night it prevents LSU from doing much of anything.
Dale Brown was most successful when he had solid X and O coaches on staff like Tex Winter and Huckaby. He wasn't as successful when he had recruiters like Jones and Childers in order to get Stanley Roberts.
With football increases people just don't want to pay anymore to support hoops and then half the seats are still tied up with old people who never go anymore and can't give them away. Baseball is more popular because being outside in LA in March and April is more appealing than the PMAC.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but we are going to be on national television over 20 times this season. Add in the fact that the SEC Network is gonna launch soon, and you're giving some kid a ton of exposure. That + above average facilities + ability to play/start early are all tangible reasons for a kid to come here, especially if they are a local or semi-local kid that can do all of that near the house.
It's not Kentucky or Duke, but there's only so many blue-blood scholarship offers given out each year.
