Anyone here build outdoor play sets

Took me 14 hours wth help on a small basic one from SAMs.

How can someone answer possibly answer this? Its like asking how long it will take to build a house without know square footage, features, amount of helpers, etc.

It has swings, a slide a little clubhouse and some monkey bars.

Thanks guys. Homemade is not an option now because we received the set as a present from the in-laws.

I have one layed out in my yard at the moment. Been working on it her and there no more than a few hours at a time. It's a pain in the arse. Make sure you look at the fine details of the illustrations.

We have the big one from Sam's (Skyfort II). I think it took my husband about 18 hours total to build it. He worked on it around 8 hours one weekend and then several days for an hour or so after work. He's pretty good with tools and building stuff, but every damned screw had like three parts to it and there are a lot of little steps you have to do.

Tips:
--lay out all the pieces and label them before you start. This will also make sure nothing is missing or damaged before you get started. We were missing two pieces, but we called the company and they Fed Exed them to us quickly.
--have one person put together all those 3-part screw/bolt combinations and hand them to you as you're working.

Why get those over priced pre-fab kits? I made a swing set, and "play house/area" with a slide, ladder, rock climber, and other add-ons for much less than a less-than stellar pre-fab one. It was pretty easy to do: for the swing, I used two 4x6x12s (notch the tops) and a 4x4x10 - just dig the holes 3 feet deep or so and add quickrete. Pretty mush same goes for play tower - four 4x4x10s, put them in the ground, square them up, and add flooring and whatever else you like (slides). pretty easy and much, much cheaper. The slide and rock wall were the most expensive. Just remember not to connect the swing and tower...

I recommend putting the legs on top of pavers if you're going to keep it in the grass.

Sound advice. My wife has followed a family on Facebook who lost their little girl on Christmas day a year ago due to the swing causing the structure to flip back and land on the little girl. Crushing and killing her. Moral of the story, anchor it well in the ground
