Remember these are 16-19 yr old kids. Though we want them to commit to the home school for our reasons, ultimately it's their life decision to make. Now remember it goes both ways....you have some who are offered, who choses to go elsewhere,(speedy) and we have some who dream of attending their main state school, but aren't offered and they are forced to go elsewhere. (Eddie lacy). Lets all remember they are still kids so no need extending threats to them and their families, if they decide not to choose the school of your choice.

Now I am aware of speedy being threatened to attend LSU before his announcement which magnified after his announcement (not sure if these are true LSU fans doing this or some imposter wrecking havoc). So instead of bashing those who don't choose LSU let's give congrats and say yes Louisiana has plenty of talent that spreads from Florida (Gerald Willis) to Hawaii (Daniel Lewis)

On one hand I wish these kids would've chosen LSU, but on the other I applaude them for leaving the state and breaking out of their comfort zone that is home.

Respectful disapproval. That is what they should expect and IMO deserve. There is nothing wrong with choosing the OOS school - Just be up front about it and don't mislead anyone. Also - don't expect folks to roll out the red carpet when you return home. I don't think any person - kid or not - should be treated with disrespect. That being said don't expect the hero treatment and opportunites that your buddies that chose the in state school get either.

karralum,

You can tell by the downvotes and the subsequent posts telling you "how stupid you are" that this board has a vocal minority that paints us LSU fans as pathetic lil boys that got dissed by some girl for the prom.

The guys on this board that are over 14 years old are in line with you on this subject. How the admins here don't cut the threads that bash a particular recruit for going out of state is beyond me.

These guys are 16 years old and make a few improperly placed statements. Let them be the immature ones....the minority will then pile on and be just as wrong as they think they are.

Every fan base has them.

I for one despise people who feel it necessary to bash a recruit on a website for anything. Opinions are fine but when one crosses the line and makes statements that can be per ieved as bashing it has gone way to far. I will also say that if we think a recruit bases his decision on what he reads on a recruiting message board then we all are taking ourselves and this hobby a little to serious

Yes dstone12, some even went as far as posting tweets on a recruits dad being a deadbeat...I'm thinking wow is it really that serious? It's to the point to where they are like...................(when a recruit signs)-ooh you'll be great!
(When a recruit doesn't sign)-we hate you and your family!
(When a recruit doesn't get an offer)-ooh well you aren't good enough to don the purple and gold and go lift weights!

I feel like we have a lot of threads like this thru the year but obviously some people forget how to act. This should be stickied.

Just remember,

When Saban leaves Bama in the next ______years, their fans will apply the same pressure on their recruits....and in my opinion, it will be on a different level.

They shoot people for not pulling for their team; they kill trees; they threaten D. Franchione for leaving; they threw beer bottles at Bill Curry's window for loosing to Miami in the Sugar; and they threaten a kicker's life.

It's cyclical, but I'd rather we LSU fans not creep up to their level.

Most of the kids that catch heat are the one's that lie to fans and LSU and draw it out for attention.

Not saying I agree with bashing these kids

But some of them love that attention

Exactly. IMO, this is what a lot of the big studs that leave do not understand is going to happen. They think they get to go to Bama or A&M and still come home and be the big hero and have the great job waiting for them if the NFL doesn't work out like they hope......NOPE!!! lol. You go to LSU and do big things and you are set for life in your home state. Its more then just a football decision. Just reality.

I do remember one recruit deciding to go
to Georgia, because of the connections the coaching staff has in case football doesn't work out.

I have no problem when a kid comes out early on and commits to an OOS school. But when they act a fool and try to show their arse, I think it's acceptable to give them the business.

It gets posted on a recruiting board after GW3 commits elsewhere, you think that gets posted on tigerdroppings if he committed to LSU?
Besides, you do know how she was harassed by some so called LSU fans after LC decided to go to Bama, and this was after her showing her loyalty to LSU.

and that is fine too. I'm just saying those connections are probably to something in Georgia. If you want the Royalty treatment at home, if you are from La, then LSU is the obvious choice.

karralum, this is a subject with multiple layers...I would agree, No One should be threatened for whatever personal decisions you expect to make with your life....The example you give, "Speedy" is one of the most talented athletes I have seen...We can draw some eductated conclusions, that if he had no intentions of attending LSU, then he should have had enough respect for not LSU, but for a relative Frank W, to let him no how undecided he truly was....As it is Frank's responsibility to secure the best talent available, he would have not backed off of Quille...So in essence, Speedy chose to spurn LSU/Frank for whatever reason...As a result, Speedy is responsibile for "how" he handled his decision...Maybe, that is partially the fault of those who influence a teenager, not understanding how to conduct themselves in such a large forum....Conversely, I will root against Hootie as a gump, but I do respect "how" he handled his recruiting process....I don't wish any bad to come to Speedy, but respectfully, I fall short of the "well wishes" you propose not for the decision but "how" he handled it....

LSUGoo that's fine of your opinion, the problem is He NEVER gave anyone the assertion that he was DEEPLY COMMITTED TO LSU. I know this for a fact! Heck if Hank Brady from Karr and Smith both from nola couldn't get an accurate read as to where Speedy was committed (and they were always at karr)I highly doubt Frank knew as well. His mom didnt find out till around Christmas where he was really leaning towards. Now what many didn't know was that Willis could have easily ended up at A&M had they not let up on their recruiting of him. There's a god chance GW could have flipped to LSU, but seeing the reactions he's getting on social media sites from so called LSU fans, I highly doubt it now. Besides how can you expect a teenager to make one of the most important decision in his life to be 100% sure the first time he says so. As even he didn't make his mind up until the 12th hour.
You're crazy to think so.
