EPA Proposes Restrictions on New Wood Stoves

So let me understand things here: coal is bad because it is so polluting (plus the risk of miners being trapped in a cave-in), oil is bad because a blowout can cause irreparable damage to the oceans (and the beaches), and natural gas is bad due to fracking (which pollutes nearby water tables and/or causes earthquakes).
Plus, as we learned yesterday from the article on former Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, the grid will go down at some point (either by EMP attack or solar flares, most likely the latter).
So I want to get off the grid and install a wood-burning stove. Yet EPA now has a problem with that.
So when will I get my ObamaStove that runs on pixie dust and unicorn poop?

The aliens the Canadian defense minister found will initiate the solar flare to take down the grid. They don't want any of us to survive.

Can't beat wood heat. Them ions are one of life's simple pleasures. And it is comforting to have the wood under the shed, and warmth independent of any grid problems.
I don't have a problem with better stoves, though more expensive stoves will hurt the poor country folk. I do like the smoky atmospheric effects on the landscape. Pretty. But I might die sucking it in.
The whole AGW meme is just another example of the Prog/Authoritarian 'never let a good crisis go to waste' MO. There will be Natural and Man made events that occur in the next half century that will make today's GW debate...moot.
Whatever.

It does look like a pretty cool camping tool. My boys just joined the cub scouts so I'm gonna need one.
I hope they don't turn gay.

No, we have to wait until 2016 at the earliest. But elections don't matter because there is "no difference" between the two parties. Or so I am told ....

The EPA needs to go. The problem with them and other similar departments is once they run out of sensible things to regulate they find stupid shite to go after in order to keep their full funding and their jobs. Its not about the environment anymore its about them finding shite to do

You better add horses because NY is starting the trend to ban them to. Also add amish like buggies to the list.
Full coached ones with bullet proofed steel extra $$$$

Fine particulate pollution is made up of solid particles and liquid droplets that measure 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less. The EPA currently certifies non-catalytic wood stoves if they produce less than 7.5 grams of fine particulate per hour.
Seems to me the emissions would depend on the wood you're burning, how dry it is, and the temp you're maintaining. There's no smoke coming out my chimney with a hot hickory fire with well-seasoned wood. Wet wood on coals smokes like crazy. Am I being overly simple here?
I'd spend the extra bucks to get a catalytic stove. I've got a 22 y/o Jotul that will run you out of the room and burn all night on an armful of hardwood with the catalyst engaged.

I wonder what will happen to the two new breasts installed by the bridge in Port Allen if this goes through. Aren't those for a new wood pellet plant?

yeah they are going straight to the ban, not even trying an interim restriction with a 15 day waiting period

Can they just find a way to tax fire?

I agree totally. Add in a propane powered generator and you're ready for just about anything except tornadoes. Nothing says "home" more than coming up a driveway smelling a good oak log burning in the stove.

They are claiming it is for health benefits... But my question is
Where the frick do you even come up with this number???
quote:
"When these standards are fully implemented, EPA estimates that for every dollar spent to comply with these standards, the American public will see between $118 and $267 in health benefits,"
Where the frick do you even come up with this number???
